It is well–researched and confirmed that, within sub–Saharan Africa, one of the countries with a high prevalence rate of HIV/AIDS is Kenya. Kenya‘s internal research has categorized the lake region as one of the leading areas with HIV/AIDS prevalence, specifically Kisumu, Siaya, Homabay, and Migori counties. This is due to cultural beliefs and traditions of inheriting men and women who have lost their partners without proper confirmation of the health status. Additionally, harsh economic prevalence activities, such as selling fish for sex, have caused many to become infected with the virus, making this region the poorest part of Kenya. As a result, many families are languishing in poverty and there are many children left orphans, either partially or totally.
